Suburbanscapes

Between the vibrancy of the town or city and the different pleasures of the countryside lie innumerable suburbs — sometimes themselves vibrant or elegant, but all too often a small, dull, neglected fringe or a vast sprawl of anonymous wasteland. These photographs — townscapes — are an attempt to represent some of the bleakness which a soul-abandoned suburb can engender, and yet to seek a visual poetry in the same scene. Not comfortable, but perhaps provoking in the viewer some of the thoughts that went through my mind as I looked through the viewfinder.
