Welcome...

...to the website. The images range widely in subject, but they include much Irish landscape (especially West Cork and Co. Kerry), some English landscape (especially Somerset), and a number of other personal favourites. Most pictures are archival quality colour prints, but there are also monochrome photographs. Take a look!

All images are available for purchase, mostly as limited edition prints; details are given on the Galleries page.

I have had varied careers, including periods as a curator of medieval manuscripts, as mayor of a Somerset town, and as head of a district general hospital; I qualified both as an archivist and as a photographer. My family comes from south-east England, although my grandfather moved to Cork City in 1902, and for many years I divided my time between England and Ireland. I have finally settled near Castletownbere, on the Beara peninsula, and spends my time in print-making and photography.

My own pleasure is in form and tone, geometry and colour: what matters to me is the visual delight, irrespective of subject. The artist, in any medium, cannot enhance the landscape, or the model, but tries, by isolating and interpreting particular elements, to convey new perceptions, moods, and ideas.

Mary Love and I can also offer BED AND BREAKFAST to photographers, artists, and other visitors to our wonderful part of West Cork; check our Holidays page for details.
